Hammock effect? Mattress, bed base, or pillow must be replaced
Mattress, bed base, and pillow should always be chosen together; this is the first rule to follow to get a quality bed system that allows you to have a restorative rest.
People are very different from one another, and a good bed system must properly support each body type, yielding in the right places and promoting relaxation of the muscles.
While the surface of the mattress must react to the slightest change in pressure (in this case, we speak of “micro-adaptation”), the mattress base or bed base must compensate for the stronger pressures exerted by our hips and shoulders (“macro-adaptation”).
Therefore, a suitable mattress base must meet the principle of ergonomics and support the body in such a way as to follow the shape of the spine, allowing maximum relaxation of the intervertebral discs.
This relaxation of the intervertebral discs occurs when our spine remains straight in a side position, while in a supine position, it takes on an “S” shape.
In the side position, the “sinking” into the mattress of the shoulder and pelvis area must be significantly greater than in the supine position.
